Group Therapy and Personal Development Groups, Alsager, Cheshire

I offer therapeutic sessions to small groups where appropriate.

Group work can be an extremely helpful and effective form of therapy. The group acts as a microcosm of the outside world, thus providing invaluable space for members to observe their own feelings and interpersonal behaviours in the here-and-now. Many people also find group work to be a significant learning experience about sharing, boundaries, empathy and being there for others. But there are very many reasons behind the power and effectiveness of therapy groups.

At the North West Centre for Eating Disorders (Oakwood House) I have been a co-facilitator of several specialist therapy groups for women recovering from eating disorders, and I have also run therapy groups for women seeking greater self-esteem.

I also facilitate bespoke therapy groups around a range of issues including separation and divorce; fostering and adoption; blended families (step-parenting); adult adoptees; disability; addictions; bereavement; redundancy; disordered eating; stress and anxiety; post-traumatic stress disorder; adult survivors of childhood abuse; life after prison; and companion animal bereavement.

Upcoming Groups:

First Tuesday of the month: Bereaved Pet Owners Drop-In. Owners of missing or terminally ill animals are also welcome at this informal, free monthly drop-in on the first Tuesday of the month. Come along and pick up support literature or have a chat over tea or coffee in an understanding and confidential environment. Alsager, 7pm; advance registration essential.

January 2015 – Personal Development six-week group, Alsager, Strictly limited to six places; registration now open.
