I am a counselling psychotherapist based in Alsager, Cheshire, offering one-to-one and couples counselling and therapy (including CBT) as well as group facilitation and therapeutic retreats.

My work experience encompasses the voluntary sector (one-to-one counselling in a not-for-profit organisation), the NHS (individual therapy and group work in a specialist outpatient unit offering counselling and psychotherapy service to patients with eating disorders and their families), facilitating personal development groups and working with patients one-to-one in private practice.

Having qualified through the University of Manchester, I also hold postgraduate qualifications from the University of Arizona / Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine. I am on the reviewing panel for the BACP’s monthly professional journal ‘Therapy Today’.

Elsa Cayat, Psychotherapist Murdered In The Charlie Hebdo Offices This Week

Dr Elsa Cayat, 54, the only woman murdered in the 5th January terrorist attack at the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris, was a psychoanalyst and author whose popular therapy column ‘Divan’ appeared fortnightly in the publication. She was also known for her book Un Homme + Une Femme = Quoi?. Dr Cayat was attending the weekly editorial meeting at the newspaper’s offices on Monday morning.

Dr Cayat leaves behind her husband, her adolescent daughter and her dog.
